As we say above they are intelligent, alert and active breed. They carry themselves in a confident and somewhat aloof way (reminders of their guard dog/sentinel ancestry) which belies their friendly nature but they are also highly independent. Lhasa Apsos can be nosy, definitely nosier than their Shih Tzu cousins. They must also be given rules and you must ensure you are the pack leader at all times, otherwise they will take over and can become snappy.
